TRAIN WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF INTENSITY

Intensity is defined as "a percentage of momentary ability". In other words, intensity relates to the degree of "inroad" or muscular fatigue, made into muscle at any given instant. Research, going back almost 100 years now to studies done by German scientists, has conclusively shown that intensity is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR in obtaining results from strength training. It has been shown that the HARDER that you train (intensity), the GREATER the adaptive response.... więcej...

FUNCTIONAL TRAINING AND BODYBUILDERS

alejandrosullivanalejandrosullivan | dodany 4158 dni 11 godzin temu | () | Dodaj do obserwowanych obserwuj
To the casual observer, a bodybuilder walking shirtless down the beach represents the epitome of health, fitness and athleticism simply because they “look” like they’re in great shape. However, a trained strength and conditioning coach would be likely to spot a lot of problems in many bodybuilders simply by looking at his/her posture, gait and exercise performance. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link and many bodybuilders have some inconspicuous, but potentially dangerous weak... więcej...

Static Contraction Training

Authors of Power Factor Training books in 1993 received a lot of feedback from many of the tens of thousands of bodybuilders and strength athletes using the new system. They were told over and over again how people had achieved strength gains and muscle growth at unprecedented rates, even though they were moving the bar in only a six to eight inch range of motion. The authors of this book always were listening for ways to improve results. Soon they started to hear from people who had made... więcej...

Train Your legs

Your aim is to go down until your thighs are parallel (or just short of) to the ground. This is lower than you think. Some guys do mini-squats where they don't go down very far at all (wasting their time), and others go down all the way (too much stress on the knees and lower spine). Just try to get as close to parallel as you can. Once at the bottom, don't bounce. Just press straight up. Remember, always start with the legs. As you stand, concentrate on thrusting your hips back in... więcej...

What Makes Bodybuilders To Be Strong

When it comes to professional athletes, probably you are astounded about how little they know about diet and training. They seem to be great despite their level of knowledge. Is this a testament to superior genes, great coaches, or what? A year ago it could be said superior genes, but now we know that superior motor control is the reason. The greatest athletes are motor geniuses. Motor control is somewhat predetermined, but motor potential can be greatly improved during childhood. That’s... więcej...

Measuring Intensity

rolandoaswainrolandoaswain | dodany 4178 dni 9 godzin 54 minuty temu | () | Dodaj do obserwowanych obserwuj
How do you measure the “intensity” of “high intensity training”? That’s easy. It’s already been done by smart people. People like Isaac Newton and James Watt (who coined the term, ’horsepower’). As far as your body is concerned, the intensity of any workout is defined by the amount of weight it has to lift and the amount of time it has to lift it. Lifting 100 pounds in 20 seconds has “x” amount of intensity. Lifting 100 pounds in only 10 seconds has “2x” intensity,... więcej...

Use pain to maximize your gains! A simple change in perspective that will change you forever One of the greatest assets you have to really succeed is the feeling of pain. By pain it is referred the good stuff that you get when your muscles are challenged to their maximum not the pain of an injury. Most people interpret pain in a negative way. As soon as exercising gets a little uncomfortable Joe average will look at this as a reason to discontinue his set, take a rest then start up again. If... więcej...

High Intensity Training

Many people talk about “High Intensity Training” or “HIT“ but nobody has a clear definition of what HIT training is, exactly. There’s a general sense that it involves “working heavy” and the influence from Jones/Mentzer leaves most thinking it involves fewer sets than other training, but there is no litmus test to determine if one workout is HIT and another is not. There is some sleight of hand going on here. Let’s just back up and look at strength training over the last... więcej...
